HONG KONG—Art Dubai, formerly known as the DIFC Gulf Art Fair, has opened an office in Hong Kong, in an effort to form partnerships with cultural organizations in the city and make connections with the area's galleries, artists, and collectors. The inaugural fair took place in Dubai in March 2007, and the second edition runs March 19 to 22, 2008, with 70 galleries from 30 countries.
“The importance of having representation in Asia was apparent immediately following the success of the inaugural fair in March 2007," said the fair's former manager Camilla Liverton, who is heading the new office. "The quality and diversity of the fair, along with the phenomenal collector and press interest, means that Art Dubai must maintain a strong global presence with particular emphasis on art from emerging art centers across Asia.” |
