Gehry to Design Pavilion for Serpentine

Published: January 19, 2008
LONDON—Frank Gehry will design the Serpentine Gallery's 2008 temporary pavilion, Bloomberg reports.

Every year since 2000, the Serpentine has asked an architect or artist to build a temporary structure that serves as a café and venue for events and lectures. Previous pavilion architects have included Zaha Hadid, Rem Koolhaas, and Olafur Eliasson, who designed it last year.

Gehry's pavilion, which will be open for three months this summer (though specific dates have not been announced), will be his first built structure in England.
