The new gallery, housed in a five-story former residence, is across Bruton Street from another Halcyon outpost and not far from the flagship, on New Bond Street. Paul Green, founder and president of the galleries, which specialize in mainstream contemporary art, says he is very excited about his latest location. He proclaims it to be “absolutely magnificent” and “completely different from our other galleries.” It has “lots of rooms, so it has a very varied feeling, as well as two outside spaces,” he explains. Because the building has many original 18th-century details, Halcyon worked closely with heritage experts to convert the space while keeping the valuable Georgian elements. The gallery’s lineup of forthcoming shows includes the first exhibition in London of drawings and sketches from musician Bob Dylan’s sketchbook, scheduled for May. Says Green, “We are about art that has a message.” "Halcyon House" originally appeared in the March 2008 issue of Art+Auction.
