Body Memory features twentieth- and twenty-first-century works of art
from the Princeton University Art Museum’s permanent collection that
focus on the body as subject, medium, or expressive device. The
exhibition’s centerpiece and conceptual starting point is the recently
acquired video Un Ballo in Maschera (A Masked Ball) (2004) by
British-born artist Yinka Shonibare. Prints, drawings, collages, and
performance documents will be displayed alongside historical
photographs that invite comparison to contemporary art through their
diversity of thematic concerns and visual modes. Featured artists
include Vito Acconci, John Baldessari, Allan McCollum, Ana Mendieta,
Wangechi Mutu, Dennis Oppenheim, and Cindy Sherman. |
