Lyrical Dioramas
February 1, 2008—February 29, 2008
Inspired by the tradition of nature, “LYRICAL DIORAMAS” challenges the viewer to approach landscape art and view it with a modern perspective. The three artists featured in this Exhibition, illustrate the influence of nature on contemporary art and man’s eternal fascination with the colors, forms, and texture of the world around us. Radiating with texture and encouraging dynamic interaction between the viewer and the work of art, LINDA PETTICAN captures the true essence of the “wild” West within her paintings, creating a breathtaking series which vibrate with unharnessed enthusiasm and passion for the uncultivated frontier. Portraying an astonishing likeness and extreme rendering of three-dimensionality, artist JEFF SIWICKI’s urban landscapes elegantly present the diverse architecture of modern America, creating works of art that are as thematically stimulating as they are beautifully executed. Creating a highly modern type of work which he has termed “4-D Serpiginous Abstraction,” IRA STARK has transplanted his connection with deep solid colors into classic subject matters such as landscape, still-lifes and the human form, astonishing the viewer in its extraordinary grandeur and spirit.
