Gallery History - The Allan Stone Gallery opened in 1960 showing works by Willem de Kooning, Cesar, Joseph Cornell, Barnett Newman, and a host of then-emerging artists like Andy Warhol, Wayne Thiebaud, Richard Estes, Robert Ryman, Eva Hesse, and John Chamberlain. The gallery continues to show contemporary, mid-career, and emerging artists while maintaining a tradition of expertise in the New York School of Abstract Expressionism. Allan Stone is a leading authority on Willem de Kooning, Arshile Gorky, Franz Kline, Joseph Cornell and John Graham. The gallery's broad aesthetic program ranges from representation to abstraction, in painting, sculpture, and works on paper.

Gallery Program - The gallery is committed to showing a broad range of work across many disciplines and media. The unifying theme of all the work we show is a profound formal soundness and the achievement of an aesthetic level of excellence. The gallery produces annual exhibitions of historically significant art. There are two to three exhibitions a year of contemporary and mid-career artists. In addition, each season opens with an annual introductions/emerging artist exhibition.
