About The Arts Center

The Arts Center is a 501c3, non profit, located in downtown St. Petersburg, FL. The Arts Center inspires, educates, and engages a diverse population in the creation of contemporary visual art by provided a dynamic, professional environment to foster the creative process, allowing artists and the community to meet and exchange ideas. We offer extensive studio arts classes at all levels across a wide variety of media, and we exhibit outstand recent work by local, regional, national and international artists through an extensive program of rotating exhibits created by student, emerging, mid-career and established artists. Our exhibitions and programs are supported in part by grants from the City of St. Petersburg; the Pinellas County Commission through the Pinellas County Department of Cultural Affairs; the State of Florida, Department of State, Division of Cultural Affairs and the Florida Arts Council, and the National Endowment for the Arts.

The Scope of Our Activities

The Arts Center fulfills its mission through three components: studio art classes, rotating exhibitions and educational outreach to underserved members of the community, primarily children and youth.

Art classes: The Center’s strongest asset has always been the quality and diversity of classes offered to the community.  In 2005/2006, the Center taught over 700 workshops and classes for nearly 36,500 adults and children.  
Several classes are offered for college credit through Eckerd College.  Courses are regularly taught in painting, drawing, clay, sculpture, photography, digital imaging, printmaking, jewelry/metalsmithing, and various forms of mixed media.  We have an extensive summer camp program for children and youth that is regularly filled to capacity with attendance of over 1600.
