About Delaware College of Art and Design

Two of America's oldest and most distinguished colleges of the visual arts, Pratt Institute and the Corcoran College of Art and Design, have come together in a unique partnership to create the Delaware College of Art and Design (DCAD). This important new institution shares the traditions and the extraordinary resources of professionalism, experience and expertise that have made Pratt and the Corcoran world leaders in art and design education for over 100 years. Just as Pratt and Corcoran alumni have been prominent among those who have set our country's creative course throughout the 20th century, so the graduates of DCAD will join future alumni in shaping the visual arts in America as we enter the third millennium. Pratt and the Corcoran share curriculum, faculty and resources with the college, providing one of the richest educational opportunities available in American art education today. Graduates of this two-year associate degree program may choose to enter the art and design work force or complete a four-year BFA degree by continuing their education at Pratt in New York, or at the Corcoran in Washington, D.C.

DCAD is now accredited by both the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) and the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD).



We are the only institution of higher education in Delaware with both accreditations.

Driving instructions from Philadelphia and points North
Take I-95 South to the second Delaware Avenue/Route 52 exit (Exit 7A).
After exit ramp, go straight through light (placing you on 11th Street) to second light (junction of 11th Street and Delaware Avenue).
Continue straight, following 11th Street, through 6 lights to King Street.
Turn right onto King Street.
Continue to Fifth Street (New Castle County Courthouse will be on your left) and turn right onto Fifth.
Take first Right onto Market Street.
DCAD is located at 600 North Market Street on the corner of Sixth and Markets Streets. Parking is available on the surrounding streets and in several parking structures. Please see map for garage locations.

Driving instructions from Washington DC and points South
Take I-95 North to Delaware Avenue exit (Exit 7)
Continue up ramp to Delaware Avenue (last light) and turn right.
Bear left at fork, following signs for 11th Street.
Continue through 6 lights to King Street.
Turn right onto King Street.
Continue to Fifth Street (New Castle County Courthouse will be on your left) and turn right onto Fifth.
Take first Right onto Market Street.
