About 798 Avant Gallery
798 Avant Gallery was founded in October 2005 in New York City. The gallery’s mission is to seek out and promote artwork from the Chinese mainland. At present the gallery is working to develop the market for Chinese contemporary art. Until now many of these artists lacked consistent professional support to expose their art outside China. Because we have a variety of fresh work we have attracted attention from American and European buyers.
798 Avant Gallery History
On October 10th, 2005, the gallery opened on 28th street in Chelsea, a world renowned district for art galleries. In 2006 the gallery moved down to 25th street where its neighbors included many of the world’s predominant art galleries. Since opening in 2005 the gallery has exhibited a new show of contemporary Chinese art every month. The variety of unique and high quality artwork exhibited has attracted collectors, curators, and art enthusiasts around the globe. At the same time the 798 Gallery has become a place for any one interested in contemporary Chinese art to meet and communicate.

798 Avant gallery’s documented materials
The 798 Avant gallery produces an online catalogue of every solo exhibition. These catalogues serve as an easy way to provide people with access to many artists. Taken together they document the exhibition history of the gallery and serve as a testimony of contemporary Chinese art history.
