58th Annual All Florida Juried Competition and Exhibition

On exhibition through August 30, 2009

As the state's oldest annual juried competition, the Museum's All Florida has introduced the works of thousands of Florida artists - emerging, under-recognized, and established younger and mid-career artists - in all media. The 58th Annual All Florida Juried Exhibition reinforces the Museum's commitment to Florida artists, provides professional exhibition opportunities for up-and-coming artists, and reveals a provocative glimpse - through Florida artists' eyes - of the state of the art today.

This year's juror is Roy Slade, Director Emeritus of Cranbrook Art Museum, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, where he served as Director from 1977 to 1995. Before his tenure at Cranbrook, Slade was director of Corcoran Gallery of Art, Washington D.C. from 1972 to 1977. Slade has presented lectures on contemporary art in the United States, Europe, South America and Japan, and has curated or juried more than one hundred exhibitions. Slade is a practicing artist, painting each summer in his studio on Shelter Island, New York. He has nearly thirty years experience as an artist, arts administrator and educator, and is an outspoken advocate of the arts, lecturing and writing about contemporary art and art museums.
This year's All Florida presents 60 artworks - paintings, sculpture, photography and installations - by 48 artists from across the state, selected from 1260 entries. Artists whose works are included in the 58th Annual All Florida are:
