About Olyvia Oriental

Olyvia Oriental, situated in the centre of St. James’, is dedicated to showing the work of the Chinese avant garde from 1989. It will represent a comprehensive range of artists from some of the best known to the young and upcoming talents of the Chinese art scene. Qi Zhilong, Guo Jin, Ling Jian are to mention but a few. Much of the work is strongly influenced by the considerable changes China has undergone since the death of Mao and the Cultural Revolution. The gallery’s programme consists of five to six solo and group shows each years. Established names will be shown in juxtaposition to the new generation of young artists, whose vision tends to shine a fresh light on China’s political and cultural standing, as it opens up to the west.
