TS1 is a dynamic organisation that encourages contemporary art in all forms and serves as an art hub for artists and art lovers alike. TS1 aspire to promote young artists who are outstanding both in concept and expression. At present, TS1 is based in the two most cutting-edge and significant places in Beijing’s art world: the 798 art district and the Songzhuang artists’ village. As well as this we are currently preparing to launch other TS1 art spaces in Qingdao and Chengdu with a view to creating a network of galleries encompassing many of China’s major cities. In 798, the TS1 gallery has two exhibition floors plus one of the district’s biggest exhibition walls - 18 metres wide, 12 metres high. We’ve already presented 6 great shows and are more than ever committed to featuring both established and emerging artists from China and beyond. It’s a great space, designed by East German architects in the 1950s, in a big scale industrial style that’s come straight out of the Bauhaus. In Songzhuang artists’ village, TS1 art museum has one of the most expansive art spaces of Beijing. With over 4000sqm of space, incorporating three consecutive venues, the museum is the largest of its kind in the Beijing area. TS1 art museum works on a non-profit basis allowing us to encourage innovative and experimental art whilst capturing the vibrancy of the village itself.In order to give foreign artists the chance to experience, to interact with and to further understand this truly inspiring place, TS1 also will provide soon a residency program for artists, writers, or art critics.
