PAST EXHIBITIONCarol Galligan: Wing/Lotus Series
Exhibition Type: Opening
June 19, 2009—July 16, 2009The wing is one of the many symbols I use to convey the journeys of the spirit... birth, death, resurrection, and rebirth. It became the focus for this series, 'Wing/Lotus'. While the work was in progress, I was introduced to the poetry of the 13th century, mystic poet, Jelauddin Rumi. It is said, 'Rumi's poetry is about everything from bewilderment, emptiness and silence, to flirtation, elegance and majesty.... all presented with love, humor, warmth and tenderness.' I dedicate this work to the journey." Morning Wind, by Jelauddin Rumi The morning wind spreads its fresh smell. We must get up and take that in... the wind that let's us live. Breathe before it's gone. |
