The works, even though they have a real physicality, come out of traditional painting, not sculpture. As such, they are concerned with the basic painting issues of color, light, space, scale, surface and so on. The work has remained relatively small over the years because they has to do with immediacy and the potential for intimacy between the artist and the viewer, which is, for me, where the aesthetic experience exists.
