Toc Fetch — Biography

1953 Born

Toc Fetch interprets the comic book as a mature art form. The drawings, which are produced very large, and in excruciating detail in pencil, depict one chapter of the stories from Fetch’s comic strip. Essentially magnifying individual panels of a narrative body of work, this work elevates the oeuvre of comic strip to art form without diminishing the quality of the image or losing track of an engaging storyline.

Entitled “Kids of Lower Utopia,” the story tells of River Finnegan, a woman in her forties coming to terms with her soul personified as a wolf.  The verse is presented in haiku-like conversations, and the imagery recalls cinematic photo stills infused with the fantasy of a skilled artist.
