Jacqueline Taylor Basker

(American)
This painting came from a dream, and relates to my doctoral research on the symbol of the cloud in ancient history.  The colors repeat the layers of emanations from the Divine in the philosophy of Plotinus, and in ancient Hebraic mystical writing.  The day after it was completed, the NY Times reported the different layers of color that occur in the stratosphere after lightning storms, which matched the colors of my dream.  I am interested in the convergence of history and technology in human creativity as found in cultures around the world.  I am presently doing art, research in Islamic symbolism, and teaching in Jordan.
