Ralph MindicinoLong Island, NY (American, b. 1960)My non-abstract paintings are part of a series that explores the marginalization of ethical values in corporate America, the climate of subtle bias it has spawned and the resulting lack of compassion and humanity so prevalent in our society today. I am attempting to convey a sense of sterility using bold and brilliant colors depicting city streets contrasted with cartoon-like figures. My abstract work utilizes an organic approach and illustrates the molecular realm of the human body and the potential cohabitation of disease and infection. It is these meditations and the sudden unexpected loss of a sibling, which have inspired this series, which explores the theme of mortality intertwined with biology. This motif confronts the uncertainty and impermanence of life. |
