The series of lithographs were originally created in 1967 as charcoal drawings on sheets of plastic, to illustrate O'Hara's Ode to Willem de Kooning [In Memory of My Feelings, MOMA, 1967). However, only three of De Kooning's drawings were used in the MOMA publication. Here the complete original suite of 17 drawings is first published in its entirety, transferred directly from the Mylar sheets to lithographic plates by Benjamin Shiff, and printed under his direction.
