Zakharov is an exciting painter and sculptor new to Opera Gallery’s collection. Since graduating from the Kiev School of Fine Arts in the 1980’s, Zakharov has emerged as an international talent.  His paintings are whimsical, with almost primitive-looking shapes that are deliberately outlined. The artist unexpectedly juxtaposes solid-colored negative shapes against images that are detailed, and creates movement and energy that is fresh and engaging. Alexandre Zakharov’s work is in public collections in the Museum of Russian Art, Kiev, the Russian Avant-garde Igor Dychenko, Moscow, the Mats Stalansson Collection, and Varsovia and in large private collections in Europe, Israel, South Africa and the United States.
