Style/Movement: Contemporary Uribe’s sculptures are made of found objects such as pennies, forks, dominos, screws, pencils, and other various media that are used in every day activities. Uribe manipulates and attaches the functional objects to needles with silicon glue and applies the pieces one by one into carved Styrofoam that is molded into human forms. This body of work reveals a multitude of varied surfaces of brilliant color and intricate textures.Through his work Uribe emphasizes the importance of perceiving beauty in every day objects. The artist is concerned with creating aesthetically pleasing forms that tempt the viewer to touch and examine how the extraordinary can be created from the ordinary.
