Andy Yoder

May 11, 2007—June 9, 2007

"Gallerygoers encountering "In a Perfect World" tend to lean down and smell the art. That's because Yoder, whose dream is to curl up in his father's closet among all the costumery of grown-up power, has cobbled himself a pair of eighty-seven-inch-long licorice wing tips, meant to re-create, with their "sugared and crude" smell, the bittersweetness of nostalgia. They do satisfyingly unite the monumental Pop of Claes Oldenberg with the goofy food sculpture of David Shapiro (who sculpted portraits of his friends out of tofu)."

The New Yorker, May 19, 2003
