PAST EXHIBITION
Tina Vietmeier and Catherine Dudley
June 11, 2008—July 26, 2008
This series of landscapes by Bay Area artist Tina Vietmeier was
influenced by her developing interest in Global Warming, particularly
the rapid deterioration of the North and South Poles caused by human
endeavor. Vietmeier creates a visual dialogue that making connections
between our daily lives and what is happening to these natural
habitats. They push back and forth between realism and abstraction and
often include snippets of information, drawings and collage elements
such as paper and used stamps. Known for her use of encaustic,
Vietmeier carefully crafts an ethereal milky cosmos of wax and imagery.
