The Edge! which opens October 17, 2008 at The Armory Art Center is be a fabulous edgy show of works of art from both national and international artists. Ann Fay Rushforth, program director, put out a call for entry and received entries from 139 artists from around the world with entries in painting, ceramics, sculpture, fibers, installations and mixed media.  Many of the artists submitted several pieces adding up to over 700 works of art which were then juried and selected to be in the exhibit by Bonnie Clearwater, Executive Director of MOCA, North Miami. International entries came from Chile, Italy, Germany, Poland and Bangladesh.  National entries came from coast to coast.

Ms. Clearwater selected over 100 pieces from 32 different artists in all media.

One of the artists selected is Bethany Krull, a ceramics artist who is a new artist-in-residence at the Armory and is teaching classes this year.
Clarence "Skip"Measelle, who is also in The Edge!, is a long time painting instructor at the Armory. The other artists that are included in the exhibition are Ayal Armon, Carlton Bradford, Bright Side Pictures, Abha Dawesar, Francis A. Domec, Sheila Elias, Stephen Futej, Betsy Gandy, Juan Gonzalez, Kathy Goodell, Marina Huang, Richard Jacobs, Diana Jaffe, Alette Simons-Jimenez, Kenric Johnson, Benjamin Kenagen, Marc Leone, Cheryl Meader, Paho Mann

Rick Newton, Hanne Niederhausen, Madison Omahne, Jami Nix Rahn,, David Rohn, Terre Rybovich, Tina Salvesen and.Laila Sharmeen.

TheEdge! opens Friday September 17th, with a cocktail reception at which time awards will be given, as well as a presentation of performance art by one of the participating artists.

The show will run through November 3, 2008 and will be displayed in all of the Armory galleries.

The Armory Art Center is a not-for-profit community-based visual arts center providing opportunities for individual growth, self-expression, increased awareness and appreciation of the arts through participation in studio, exhibition, lecture and other educational programs.
