Non-Declarative Art: Selections Fall 2007

September 14, 2007—October 18, 2007

Non-Declarative Art: Selections Fall 2007 probes the question, “How far can one go in removing ‘declarations’ from art—clear expressions of the artist’s voice—without fully losing the awareness that it is art?” The works in this exhibition derive strength from their resistance to any clear explanations. Mostly examples of the anti-spectacle, the artworks range from pointed to trivial in subject matter, from perfection in craft to studied clumsiness.

Gallery talk with curator Luis Camnitzer and exhibiting artists: Saturday, September 15, 4pm.
