Since the MCA presented Koons' first American survey in 1988, immediately before he began his often controversial series of works in porcelain, it is fitting to revisit the career of this now-seminal figure in contemporary art and to explore his work's significance for a new generation.

Many of the works to be included in the exhibition will come from the MCA's own collection or as loans from Chicago-area collectors with in-depth concentrations of Koons' work. Additional new paintings by Koons will also be included. Further calling attention to Koons' ambitious, unmistakable art in a way that would engage a broad public, the MCA will explore the presentation of a major large-scale work by Koons in one of the museum's public spaces such as the front plaza or sculpture garden.
