Coal Country

The work in "Coal Country" ranges from paintings, drawings, and mixed media constructions, and presents a varied selection of creative responses to the artists' shared environment- the Coal Regions of North-Eastern Pennsylvania.  All four artists featured in the show- Justin McCarthy, Jack Savitsky, Frank Wyso, and Michael Wysochansky are self taught, and their vernacular style offers glimpses into both the pains and pleasures of their working-class lives, and into fantasy worlds through which they escape them.
