Miron Zownir: Radical Eye
April 4, 2008—May 3, 2008
In radical eye, Miron Zownir presents a cross section of his b/w
photographs from Berlin, New York, and Moscow, in which he unmasks
social taboos with a relentlessly direct approach. 'He tests the limits
of reality and surpasses the limitations of traditional photography,
the separation of idealization on-show and strict documentation in
innumerable photo-sessions. The streets of the neon-illuminated
concrete-labyrinths are the highways of self-production, the stage of
the exhibitionists who are turned on by Zownir’s camera' (Nico Anfuso).
Social outcasts of varying shades become distorted, symbolic documents
of everyday madness: underground performers, radical artists,
criminals, punks, junkies, self-assured prostitutes, or sexual outlaws.
