PAST EXHIBITIONJames Caprell: TREWTH
March 28, 2008—June 5, 2008 Vibrant color palettes and kinetic composition characterize James Caprell's highly emotive and deeply introspective abstracts on canvas. A sensory journey and visceral connection can be expected from the pieces in his gallery. Caprell left his Wall Street investment-banking job in 2000 to pursue his art full-time. For several years, he showed his work from his private studios in Manhattan and Harlem and was represented by galleries in Miami and Atlanta. A far cry from the anti-social artist stereotype, Caprell became known for his gregarious personality and enthusiasm to discuss his work. The experience of interacting with his clients became so valuable that he began to envision a more permanent way to relate his paintings to his patrons, and so began the plans for his own gallery. In December of 2007, the James Caprell Gallery opened on Abbot Kinney Boulevard, the chic and eclectic pride of Venice, California. |
