PAST EXHIBITIONThe Beautiful Promise: Paintings from North Korea
May 13, 2008—May 24, 2008 North Korea is one of the world's most hermit countries. Under its government's dictatorship, most artists have very little contact with the outside world. The form of art is therefore considered very pure. North Korean artists, like any other citizen, follow the country's political philosophy. Because of the government's censorship, they are rarely influenced by outside politics or the contemporary art trends, and are able to develop their own techniques and the use of colors in an original style. |
