Stephen Danko: Looking Back - In Two Parts

We are saddened to learn of the untimely passing of member, artist and friend Stephen Danko.  Steve had been a professional artist for over twenty five years.  His education includes a BA degree from University of Florida and a MFA in photography from Florida State University.  Mr. Danko taught and gave workshops around the country, including Tyler School of Art, Chicago Art Institute, California State University – Fullerton and the University of California – Santa Barbara.  Mr. Danko also worked in major museums and galleries.  Over the years he collected photography, contemporary and folk art.  He has had studios in Los Angeles, Philadelphia and Cologne, Germany.  He participated in over fifty group and ten solo exhibitions, and was included in many public and private collections.  Mr. Danko received a NEA Fellowship in photography and is in J. Greene’s, “American Photography”, Abrahams. N.Y, 1984.  Since 1995, Stephen Danko maintained a studio in DeLand, working on a series based on Florida themes.  An exhibition of his work will be on display at the Museum of Florida Art from August 15th to Oct 26th in the Chris Harris Permanent collection   Gallery. His work can also be viewed at the Daytona Beach International Airport.
