The foundation is considering Richard Armstrong, former director of the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh, to replace outgoing director Thomas Krens.
With $92,500, half of which was provided by the Art Fund charity, the V&A secured the winning auction bid for the original drawings of the Rolling Stones' tongue and lips symbol done by British designer John Pasche in 1970.
