Pablo Picasso, "La Fille De L'artiste A Deux Ans Et Demi Avec Un Bateau" (1938)
Est. $16–24 million

Alberto Giacometti's "Le Chat" (1951/9) and Pablo Picasso's "La Fille De L'artiste A Deux Ans Et Demi Avec Un Bateau" (1938) share the highest-estimated lot honors in Sotheby's May 5 Impressionist and Modern Sale, with each work expected to sell for $16–24 million. Giacometti's bronze sculpture features one of his most well-known subject matters, the cat, while Picasso's painting is an animated portrait of his daughter Maya, then 2 1/2. The work remained in the Spanish artist's personal collection until his death in 1973.
