Best of New York Summer Shows

At P.P.O.W., there’s a wonderfully excessive show called "All You Desire." What unites the work on display here is neither intellectual, formal, nor technical—it’s the fact that the art glitters and glows. Typically unrestrained is Anna Betbeze’s sculpture (pictured to the left), though I was also quite taken by Liam Gillick’s more or less unphotographable piece, "Dispersed Discussion Structure" (2006). It’s a work that’s installed by mopping the gallery floor with whisky and silver glitter; visitors make their contribution by walking tiny fragments of it out on to the sidewalk. Or you can have your own version for $10,000.
