In addition to Alvarez’s textile pieces are a sound work, "Bird Call" (2007), partially recorded in the woods at night, and a series of drawings. The latter, perhaps the strongest works in the show, employ the artist's signature technique of creating, in pencil, what look like poorly transmitted digital renderings of vintage photographs and film stills—the images seem to disintegrate into oversize pixels, suggesting visual information that has been lost in an awkward transition into the digital age.
