Claw has become somewhat of a graffiti legend herself, after spending 16 years tagging anywhere and everywhere in the city by herself and with her crew PMS (she stopped briefly when she moved to Los Angeles in the late 1990s, before making her New York comeback in 2000, when she painted this throw-up), and powerHouse recently published her book Bombshell: The Life and Crimes of Claw Money. Even so, “It doesn’t seem real,” she said as we traversed blocks of graffiti that seemed to crumble and fade before our eyes. “It’s like it was a dream—like I imagined it.”
