Sean Mellyn: Undervalued?
Mellyn’s post-Pop assemblage works are beautifully executed, yet they retain a smirky quality that is both cleverly sophomoric and sophisticated. This undervalued work—which already sold at a modest $15,000, sorry!—is a tongue-in-cheek take on the biblical story of Veronica’s veil.
This work consists of a painting depicting former First Lady Nancy Reagan crying and adorned with a convincing cast-resin hand clutching a handkerchief emblazoned with Ronald Reagan’s square-jawed mug where Jesus’s would appear.
