Gupta's paintings usually receive less attention than his sculpture, but the three in the exhibition ("Still, steal, steel #1" and #3 pictured here) are no less kinetic than his motorized installation. Serving vessels clank together against gray-pink backgrounds as if caught mid-crash, while flat splotches on the perimeter of the canvases suggest spills or water damage.
