This pioneer in integrating traditional craftsmanship with industrial production was also among the first to design fixtures for the new electric bulb. Today, his output of mostly copper and brass pieces is popular among the decorating set. A rare chafing dish (£3,800; $7,400), left, was brought by the Fine Art Society gallery to the Winter Antiques Show in New York this past January.
