Juergen Teller at the Fondation Cartier pour lArt Contemporain in Paris
Published: March 28, 2006
His work redefined the aesthetics of fashion photography, away from the glamour and gloss of the 1980s to the more brutally direct and authentic realism of the 1990s. Juergen Teller captures his subjects at seemingly unrehearsed moments, revealing them in all of their imperfection and vulnerability. Exposing the scars, bruises and blemishes of his models, Juergen Tellers photographs question conventional notions of beauty. Whether he is photographing supermodels or celebrities, or himself and his family, Juergen Teller finds poetry in the everyday, creating images that are poignant, humorous, rough or tender. The Fondation Cartier is presenting the artists first solo show in France. A special focus will be given to the artists work as it appears in magazines and publications, exploring the relationships created by the sequencing of images in printed form. The exhibition runs through March 28. All images © Juergen Teller / Courtesy of Lehmann Maupin and the artist |
