Henri Michaux at Marlborough Gallery
Published: June 28, 2006
The Belgian-born artist and poet began painting and drawing in Paris in 1925, inspired by his acquaintance with Paul Klee, Max Ernst and Giorgio de Chirico. Between 1927 and 1937, Michaux traveled extensively throughout South America and Asia, experiences which greatly influenced his work. In the 1950s, Michaux began experimenting with hallucinatory drugs, another type of "travel" which inspired his artistic efforts at the time. |
