Scott’s First Acquisition:
The first piece I ever bought was when I was in undergraduate school
at the University of Alabama and I purchased one of my
professor’s large paintings. His name was Al Sella. I paid $800. Even
back then I knew I wanted to collect, and I realized this was a real painting.
That was the effect that it had on me. I still have it. It’s hanging in my old
office space.

The most recent are two Kelley Walker paintings,
based on the Birmingham race riots. They are painted in dark and white
chocolate. You can see that we’ve come a long way from what we liked when I was
in college! I don’t even remember what I paid for them.
-------------------------- I would say one of our favorite pieces is a painting by Takashi Murakami. In our opinion, he is one of the most important artists of our generation. One of Kelly’s favorite pieces and a recent acquisition is a beautiful large painting by Simone Lucas. |
