Art News: Scotland Galleries and Tate to Acquire dOffay Collection

The collection also would be available to other galleries across Scotland and the UK in a plan aimed at bringing contemporary art to a wider, younger audience. Tate director Nicholas Serota said the collection will probably cost more than $18 million. Last year dOffay, a leading art dealer for 40 years before he closed his London gallery in 2001, said publicly he 100 percent wanted his collection to go to Scotland.
