The artist David Hockney at the opening of his exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery
The highlight of the week? The much-anticipated opening of Louise T Blouin MacBain's 35,000-square-foot Institute in West London, which drew a posh crowd of some of Britain's biggest artists (Antony Gormley) and collectors (Pia Getty), as well as legendary runway icon Grace Jones. Coming in a close second was the VIP preview at the Frieze Art Fair, where actress Gwyneth Paltrow and supermodel Claudia Schiffer strolled the aisles alongside legions of other major art collectors and art world professionals. (ArtInfo's team of London reporters has the scoop on sales and sightings at the fair.) Meanwhile, the Burberry fashion house (and an equally fashionable crowd of art lovers) feted artist David Hockney at the opening of his exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery. |
