MIAMI—OPPENheim architecture + design is taking green design to the next level with COR, a cutting-edge building in Miami’s design district.

The design and architecture firm recently received unanimous approval from Miami’s Urban Design Review Board to carry out the project, a collaboration between Chad Oppenheim, engineer Ysrael Seinuk and energy consultants Buro Happold. The building is the firm’s first sustainable, mixed-use residential tower.

OPPENheim architecture + design calls the tower, which stands 400 feet tall, “a dynamic synergy between architecture, structural engineering and ecology.” It encompasses alternative energy-saving technologies and cost-effective design strategies, including wind turbines, photovoltaic panels, solar hot water generation, and an exoskeleton shell.

“COR is truly the building of the future,” Oppenheim said. “It is one of the first times that energy efficient elements play an integral part of the design of a building in Miami.”

Groundbreaking is scheduled to begin in mid-2007.
