The Art Show Breaks Attendance Records
Published: March 2, 2007
More than 14,000 people attended the Art Show, held Feb. 22-26 at the Park Avenue Armory in New York City. That represents a significant jump over last year’s 11,000 attendees and serves as a further indicator of the continuing strength of the local and international art market. “It was an unparalleled success in every way,” said Roland Augustine, President of the ADAA and a partner in the Luhring Augustine gallery, which sold out its solo exhibition of works by Janine Antoni to mainly public institutions and museum trustees. Other galleries reported sold-out shows as well, including Michael Werner Gallery, which had never-before-seen works by Sigmar Polke; Richard Gray Gallery, showing landscape paintings by David Klamen; and Lehmann Maupin Gallery, offering paintings by Taiwanese artist Suling Wang. “The look of the show has never been better—from the entry design by Rexrode Chirigos Architects to the unparalleled efforts on the part of the exhibitors to curate the best presentations ever,” Augustine said. |
