Art for Sale in The Armory Show & Pulse: Ken Little, Zane Lewis and More

Published: February 22, 2007
NEW YORK—In this special art fair edition of our Editors' Picks column, our reporters on the ground at The Armory Show and Pulse sent us their early favorites, and they chose work ranging from thoughtful painting to collaged paper to an adventurous porcelain object.

Even with eager collectors moving in early, bargains could be found at Pulse, with work by Ken Little going for $5,500 at the booth of Houston's Finesilver Gallery. That gallery also had Zane Lewis’s large-scale “Purging Pope” for just $10,000.

While The Armory Show is usually synonymous with six-figure price tags, even the most expensive works on our list—a multi-colored installation by Pascale Marthine Tayou from Galleria Continua, and a porcelain sculpture by Liu Jianhua at Arario Gallery—seem like a good deal for an interested collector.

Other Armory Show works highlighted on our list include: a Marc Bijl installation from Cosmic Gallerie; a Markus Amm painting at The Breeder; a Markus Schinwald sculpture at Georg Kargl Gallery; and a Marcel Odenback work on paper at Galerie Crone.
