The Babyshambles frontman, known for his relationship with supermodel Kate Moss, is charging up to £45,000 ($89,250) for paintings on show at the “Bloodworks” exhibition in the plush Notting Hill area. "Painting is a relatively new thing for him. Painting with his blood is the expression of the intensity with which he does everything," said Michael Chambati-Woodhead, director of the Bankrobber gallery showing the works. Doherty has repeatedly sought treatment for addiction to hard drugs and in December, he was fined £770 for possessing illegal drugs, including crack cocaine and heroin. Among the 14 works on show at the gallery are Blackbird, a collage featuring a small spoon—used by addicts for heating up heroin before injecting it—and two syringes. |
