Kaikai Kiki Announces GEISAI Miami

Published: August 8, 2007
MIAMI—Six years after the inception of GEISAI in Japan, Kaikai Kiki, an art production company run by Takashi Murakami, has announced GEISAI Miami, the "American debut of a fair that has been a launch pad into the art world for many young artists,” according to the organization. Like its twice-yearly sister fair in Japan, GEISAI Miami allows artists “to exhibit their work directly, without a commercial gallery, to an audience of collectors, curators, and art enthusiasts.” GEISAI Miami will run concurrently with Art Basel Miami Beach, December 5-9, 2007.

Application to the fair is open to artists of all nationalities who do not have commercial gallery representation. A jury including Tom Eccles, Massimiliano Gioni, Walter Robinson, Lin Lougheed, and Carol Kino will select from among the applicants approximately 20 artists, who will not be charged for the booth that is given to them. Applications are being accepted at http://www.geisai.us through October 1.
