Cincinnati Art Museum Gets Donation of 400 Works

CINCINNATI—The Cincinnati Art Museum has been promised a donation of 400 works from Chicago collector Robert A. Lewis, reports the Cincinnati Post. The collection comprises paintings, sculptures, and works on paper dating from the 1960s on, including many by African American artists and from the late 1960s group known as the Chicago Imagists. In addition to works by Chicago Imagists Roger Brown, Karl Wirsum, and Suellen Rocca, the collection includes pieces by New York sculptor Donald Lipsky and California artist Roy DeForest. An exhibition of works from the Lewis collection is scheduled for winter 2009.
