Let the Parties Begin

NEW YORK—Art season has officially begun, and so have the parties.

Among the openings that brought out star-studded crowds last week were a PaceWildenstein reception for Robert Whitman’s exhibition “Turning,” and the debut of Damien Hirst’s new “Warhol Factory X Levi's X Damien Hirst” collection for Levi Strauss & Co., at Gagosian Gallery.

At PaceWildenstein, we spotted Whitman chatting with ARTINFO Senior Editor Robert Ayers. Star artists Coosje van Bruggen, Claes Oldenburg, Lucas Samaras, and Kiki Smith also attended.

At Gagosian, art-world and Hollywood celebrities mingled, including Waris Ahluwalia, the duo Andrew Andrew, Christopher Makos, Malcolm McLaren, Mary-Kate Olsen, and of course Larry Gagosian himself.
